In a small eclectic neighborhood in Berlin lies one of our newest European dealers, Hiker Haus.  The store is located in a hip neighborhood that was once part of East Berlin back in the dark days of Cold War history.  Boy how times have changed, the area is now vibrant with boutique shops, excellent restaurants, amazing street art, and tourism, a vastly different world than 30 years ago.

 Hiker Haus was started in 2014 by 3 friends Mariya, Dymtro, and Alex who all have a passion for hiking and spending time in nature and the natural world.  While out hiking around Europe the group quickly realized how much more fun, they had when they didn’t have on heavy backpacks.  Just like hikers in the US, they started to learn about ultra-light hiking philosophy and quickly realized that they wanted to see this gear, but there was nowhere really to do so in Germany.

After years of ordering gear online, the three friends decided to take a chance and open a shop in Berlin that specialized in ultra-light gear.  By opening a storefront, they set themselves apart from more traditional outdoor retailers in the area.   People who wanted to see the gear could actually come and see it in person, get fitted for an ultra-light pack and learn from experienced hikers how to use the gear ion the filed.

The shop while not large houses one of the best collections of UL one could hope for.  With products from Sawyer, Cnoc, Toaks Outdoors, and others this shop has everything a UL needs.  The shop has customers who travel from all over Germany and Europe just to visit the store and have an opportunity to see the gear in person before they buy it.  So next time you are in Berlin make sure to drop in and visit the team at Hiker Haus.
