The Haven Tarp is a shaped tarp that is designed to provide the maximum amount of protection for a minimum weight. It's dual pole design with 48" (122 cm) wide canopy provides a tremendous amount of headroom. The wide canopy creates nearly vertical sidewalls. This in turn translates to more usable space with the tarp and less chance of bruising up against the side walls.

The center peak of the Haven is offset slightly toward the front of the tent. This raises the canopy off your face and sets the peak to the more natural position when sitting..

The Haven Tarp can be setup using your hiking poles or our optional carbon fiber poles. Dual tabs on either side of the canopy allow the Haven Tarp to be hung from a line between two trees, eliminating the need for poles.

The Haven Tarp is designed to be mated with the Haven NetTent. Together they form a luxurious sized double wall shelter at a mere 32 ounces (.9 k).

Most of the tarp / NetTent combos on the market today require the NetTent to be setup first, followed by the tarp. Typically the poles are inside of the NetTent, making them easy to bump into in the middle of the night. This kind of setup makes it impossible to keep your NetTent dry when setting up or taking down your shelter in the rain.

The Haven Tarp / NetTent combo is designed so that the NetTent hangs from the tarp. This configuration allows the tarp to be setup first or taken down last under rainy conditions. Your NetTent will remain dry and safely secure in your pack.

  • Full 360 degree protection allow this tarp to provide enhanced security compared to traditional flat tarp.
  • High Vent removes excess moisture build up.
  • Zipper Vestibule Closure makes opening and closing the vestibule a snap.
  • Dual Side Entry makes entry and exit easy.
  • Easy Tensioning Adjustment makes keeping your the tent taut a trivial task that can be accomplished while still in your sleeping bag. Re-tension straps have been added to all tie out points.
  • Floating Canopy allows the canopy to be set to different heights.
  • Optimized Sleeping Area is oriented to maximize usable space, ventilation and view. A peak height of 45 inches gives you plenty of head room.
  • Dual Pole Support significantly improves headroom and interior space.
  • Ultra-light Waterproof Canopy is made from high strength 30 denier Silicone Nylon.
  • Extremely Easy Setup in less than two minutes under any conditions.

First off, a note about customer service. Ron sealed and shipped the tarp to me in the UK in double-quick time; and in time for a wet weekend in The Lake District. This tarp, on paper, was just what I was looking for in a shelter for two; light, roomy, two exits, ample headroom, and well vented.rnrnOne practice in the garden confirmed that this tarp is very easy to put up; I can't understand how anyone would find it tricky - which was just as well given the events of my trip. The tarp pitched nice and taught, seems very well made and packs down very small; it was about 530g on my scales. Our plan for the Lakes trip involved a weekend moutain biking, including carrying the bikes over a couple of passes. Day one, all well, tarp pitched, food cooked and no condensation at all; I was quite amazed. Day two - carrying the bike over a pass my old back injury took a turn for the worse and meant a major urgent retreat to set up camp; this was at about 5pm and it was now raining hard (I was making light of the pain I was in to my mate; hence he didn't offer to put up the tarp, more fool me). I was cold, in pain and starting to get very wet. Desite a strong wind, the rain and my lack of movement, the tarp was still incredibly easy to pitch; which I was very grateful of. The rain continued unabated until about 11am the next morning; whereupon I noticed about 4 spots of water on my bag - the result of the sealing around one of the toggles failing; no big deal and very easily remedied. Again, absolutely no condensation. I'm very happy with this tarp; in particular the headroom, space and having two exits, it makes camping for two actaully quite a pleasant and comfortable experience. The Terra Nova Laser is now retired. Great product Ron, thanks. Mac

My wife and I just got back from the Wind river range where we used the Haven tarp and net tent combo. The second day out we had hail, high winds and heavy rain. I think I've finally found the tent I have been looking for. It is easy to set up(practice at home), roomy for two and the ventilation is great. The real upside is that I can use the tarp for my fall trips.
